Public Housing Rent Collection Reminder
- Rent is due on the first day of the month. No partial payments accepted.
- Rent is considered delinquent (late) if not received by 4:30 PM on the fifth day of the month.
- The late fee is $30. Late fees will be posted on the 5th day of the month after 4:30 PM.
- Dispossessory warrants are filed 30 days from the 5th day of the month.
- Legal fees ($100) are added to accounts if rent is not paid by the 30-day notice.
- If you receive two (2) dispossessory warrants within a 12-month period, NWGHA does not have to accept your payment.

Work Orders
To report damages or request repairs during daytime hours, please call your Property Manager. Work orders must be CALLED IN or REQUESTED IN PERSON at the Property Manager's office. Stopping an employee on the property or talking to maintenance staff to request a repair is NOT the way to submit a work order request. You MUST CALL or go to the office. Leave a voicemail, if there is no answer. DO NOT SEND A TEXT MESSAGE!!

Maintenance After-Hour Emergency List
Residents should ONLY call maintenance if any of the following emergencies are present in your home. If your request is not on this list, please contact your property manager during working hours to submit a maintenance work order.
- No heat when the temperature is below 45 degrees
- No air conditioning when the temperature is above 85 degrees outside (calls after 6:00 PM will be serviced the next day)
- Smoke Alarm is not working
- Total outage of refrigerator
- A stopped-up toilet if unit have only one bedroom
- Water leak flooding the apartment (does not include dripping faucets)
- Power Outage in unit
- Fire (call 911 first)
- Unable to secure exterior door
- Entire window is broken out
- Fire alarm at high-rise apartments
- Exposed electrical wires
- Gas Leaks (call 911 first)
- Resident locked out of apartment

Project SOAR
Project SOAR Students attended the annual Harvesting Scholars EXPO at GNTC in Rome, GA on March 20th as well as the annual Atlanta Black College Expo in Marietta, GA on March 22nd with the SOAR Coordinator. Elaina Beeman. Students attending had the chance to meet college recruiters, submit college applications to have fees waived, and win cash prizes.
The Envision Center
Economic Development
On Tuesday, February 18th, the Envision Center partnered with Goodwill Resource Center to host a Hearts & Hires Hiring Event at the gym located at 560 N. Division Street. The job fair was a huge SUCCESS over 120 people showed up for this event. A special Thank you goes out to all the employers in attendance to help make this a Success.
Representatives from WorkSource Georgia hosted a workshop and brought their Mobile Career Van to Park Homes and Main High Apartments. Residents learned how to register for online accounts in search of employment.
Character & Leadership
In honor of Black History Month, on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, the Envision Center hosted a Paint & Sip where Rome City School Board member and NWGHA employee Mr. Alvin Jackson spoke about the history of Rome, GA.
What Home Means to Me: Poster Contest
Several students from Northwest Georgia Housing Authority participated in our "What Home Means to Me" 2025 Poster Contest. NWGHA looks forward to having winners selected for a chance to win at the state and national levels! Thanks to all that participated!
Health & Wellness
UGA Extension Office hosted a class called Food Talk: Farmers Market at the Envision Center. Representatives focused on how to plan healthy meals on a budget. The recipe for this class was Fresh Corn Salad.
Educational Advancement
Our GNTC Adult Education Program Student can receive Envision Bucks $$ to use as an incentive for achieving Measurable Skills Gain, Prefect Attendance and Student of the Month. As another incentive for the class, students was able to attend an educational tour at the Cave, located in Cave Spring, GA. The tour guide provided lunch for the students and talked about the history of the Cave. Students enjoyed a drink from the Spring Water Spring all while dipping their feet into the cold creek water. A Special Thanks to the Cave Spring Development Authority for making this trip happen for our students.
Family Self-Sufficiency Program - FSS
The FSS Coordinators and the ROSS Coordinator hosted their quarterly PCC Meeting in April with over 15 community partners. This month meeting/lunch topic was on Collaboration. During the meeting FSS, ROSS and it's partners were able to team up and devise a plan on how to personalize assistance based on the needs of one individual person. Thanks to everyone who serves on the PCC committee .

ROSS Program
ROSS' SPOTLIGHT
CONGRATULATIONS to BREN'TASIA GARRETT!
Bren'tasia entered the ROSS Program after she graduated from RHS and from the Project Soar program. She became a WIOA youth success worker through GNTC and worked at the Rome Children's Academy where she received First Aid and CPR training certification. Once her WIOA work training program was completed, Bren'tasia was trained and ready for the next step in her career path. Bren'tasia and the ROSS Coordinator, Aaliyah, worked closely together to secure her a job. One of the goals she set for herself. After a few weeks, Bren'tasia was able to secure a position at Kids Stop Daycare and Early Learning Center in West Rome. Bren'Tasia plans to enroll in school to receive a degree in early childhood education. We wish Bren'tasia success at her new job and with her future endeavors.
The ROSS Program is a voluntary program that assist elderly and disabled individuals as well as families within the housing authority. Join US for our next workshop. Flyers are posted in each Highrise building and in the property managers offices. February and March Recap
ROSS Family hosted two sessions of a Resume' Writing Workshop with NWGRC WorkSource Georgia at the EnVision Center. The Mobile Career Van came and each participant was able to create, critique, and edit their personal resume to fit their future career paths. Each Month, ROSS & NWGRC-WorkSource GA will host an event geared towards career building. Our upcoming session is scheduled in May and the topic will be Interview Skills. Please keep a look out for informational flyers for details.
ROSS Elderly hosted a Community Health and Wellness Fair in the Charles Hight high-rise 1 Community Room on March 20th. A Special THANK YOU goes out to all of the vendors/companies who came out to share their knowledge of health tips and wellness needs with our elderly residents. Each table had goodies and informational items for residents to take home. Our very own, Ms. Caldonia Johnson, a ROSS Participant, won the raffle drawing from Transitions Hospice Care. Congratulations Caldonia!

- Rent & security deposit charges must be paid with separate checks and/or money orders.
- Dispossessory warrants are filed 30 days from the 5th day of the month.
- Legal fees ($100) are added to accounts if rent is not paid by the 30-day notice.
- If you receive two (2) dispossessory warrants within a 12-month period, NWGHA may not have to accept your payment.
- Payments must be made with checks or money orders - no cash.

Faith Leaders Prayer Breakfast with Justin Jones, CEO
Rome, Georgia - April 10, 2025 - This morning faith leaders representing forty-five agencies gathered at 560 N Division Street to meet with Justin Jones, Chief Executive Officer at Northwest Georgia Housing Authority (NWGHA). Jones opened breakfast by discussing his faith and the impact it has had on his career.
In addition to serving as CEO at NWGHA, Mr. Jones is a trustee of the Public Housing Directors Association (PHADA). As a trustee, Jones advocates for residents and solutions that affordable housing faces locally and across the nation.
After the presentation, Mr. Jones opened the floor to welcome questions and comments from the group. Sundai Stevenson of One Community United graciously donated breakfast for the group.
